Labarca Remo Club is made up of citizens committed to providing a common good related to the municipality, culture, sports and qualified social relationships, based on the joy and pride of self-organization.
Labarca Remo Club is registered in the official register of cultural associations of the Junta de Andalucía, and its operation is governed by democratic statutes and open to participation.
Labarca Remo Club applies in principle to the construction and maintenance of seine boats and other types of traditional boats -sardinal, chalana-, in their fiber versions; and the necessary installations and maintenance.
Possibly, sooner or later, we would apply to boats approved by the Rowing Federation, whether on a fixed bench - lute - or on a mobile bench.
Once a sufficient number of members has been reached, Labarca Remo Club would incorporate as its objective organizational and financial aid to the constitution of other sister clubs on beaches in the municipality or on the rest of the coast of Granada and Almería.
In the medium term, the organization of a Traditional Rowing League is contemplated, inspired by the one that has been held in Malaga for years during the summer.
It is in our future plan to organize a Traditional Rowing Cup, between the champion teams of the Malagueña League and ours, when it comes to exist. Each year it would be carried out alternately in their wooden boats or our fiber boats.
1.- Attract young people and not so young people -but in good shape-, towards traditional group rowing and towards interest in our history.
2.- Beautify and make our beach landscape more interesting.
3.- Qualify friendly relations between natives of the municipality, new residents and active tourists, of any age, sex, nationality or social background.
4.- Contribute to the compilation and creation of the contents of a future Interpretation Center for the Art of Seine Boat, artisanal fishing and Andalusian riverside carpentry.
Unlike our friends from Málaga, we will not build wooden boats but rather opt for an ultra-light version, based on fiberglass.
The goal is to reduce the cost and time of manufacturing and maintenance, but not only. Above all, we achieved a radical weight reduction. The historic boat weighed about 1,150 kilos, the sports one from Málaga weighed about 500 and ours will weigh just over 150.
Labarca Remo Club was born in Almuñécar – La Herradura but its destiny is to reach the twenty coastal municipalities of Granada and Almería.
